Five Card Stud is similar to Seven Card Stud except ye only get five cards, one dealt face-down and the other four dealt face-up. Another variation is that ye are dealt two hole cards and three open cards with no community cards. When playing Five Card Stud, a pair or even a high card often wins.
To begin all players must put in an ante bet. The round then opens by the dealer giving each player a hole card. Then the dealer gives all the players one open card. Following this initial deal, it is time to start the betting. The betting is started by the player showing the highest open card, then the players take turns going around the table in a clockwise direction. Each player will be given the option to raise, call or fold.
Once the betting is over, a third card (3rd street) is dealt to each player who has not folded, as an open card. Once this third card has been dealt to all remaining players then it is time fer another round of betting. Once again the player with the best open cards showing will start the betting and the betting will continue in a clockwise direction until there are no more bets made.
